BLOCK PULLEYS
Block and tackle are used as a method to manually lift heavy loads.
A system of two or more block pulleys with a rope (or "line") threaded between
makes up a tackle and provides mechanical advantage allowing much more weight to be lifted.

Blocks are also used to guide and change the direction of a sailing vessel's line for sails.

Deadeyes are also used on sailing vessels for rigging.

*Block pulleys pictured on this page are representative of the type we carry;
pieces pictured below have been sold unless
they say "available" under the picture
Sold pieces remain pictured to show the wide range of lighting types that exist,
that we have carried, and that we continue to try to find and salvage.

Order over the phone Thurs.-Sun.; prices listed do not include shipping and are subject to change;

All of the pulleys below are salvaged; most have been reconditioned, stripped and polished.  These come to us in a variety of sizes,
some with hooks, eyes, beckets, etc and some without.  Single wheeled, double wheeled and occasionally a triple wheel here and there...

Parts of a block pulley from the top "hook" down to the wooden "cheek", the "face" includes the 3
wood facias on each side of the brass "sheaves" (wheels) and on the bottom might be a metal "becket".

Some original, some new production; read description under each image for details.
Order over the phone Thurs.-Sun.; prices listed do not include shipping and are subject to change;
see the FAQ section on the homepage for shipping info.  No returns or exchanges on any items shipped.

Under the photo will read "available" if available - if not, that item has been sold.
Deadeyes are circular wood blocks, grooved around the circumference for line, with slotted holes though which line/lanyard is run, serving many of the same purposed block pulleys would have in rigging.

Pic above shows an enormous 5-hole deadeye
used on the bowsprit.
